The WSA MLK / ESK is renting 4 icebreaking-capable vessels with necessary crews, each from 01 December to 31 March, for the winter seasons 2026/2027 and 2027/2028, for potential ice-fighting operations. The deployment will take place on federal waterways in the areas of responsibility of the following:

- Waterways and Shipping Office Weser - Jade - North Sea (inland waterways)

- Waterways and Shipping Office Weser

- Waterways and Shipping Office Mittelland Canal / Elbe Side Canal

- Waterways and Shipping Office Oder-Havel
