Germany – Facade work – Holzfassade

The demonstration centre for sector coupling is designed as a research building with laboratory and office spaces. The main entrance to the building is located on the east facade and is accompanied by a generous canopy. The building is accessed via 2 staircases and a lift. The laboratories are located in the northern part of the building and are housed on the ground floor and the 1st floor. The wet laboratory and the technical centre extend over 2 floors. Above the laboratories, on the 2nd floor, is the technical control centre. The offices and consultation rooms are located in the southern part of the building. All ancillary rooms such as changing rooms, sanitary facilities, cleaning supply rooms, storage and technical rooms, and a workshop are arranged in the central zone. The facade is clad with a vertical structure that unifies and harmonises the overall impression of the building. This vertical structure consists of wooden slats mounted on a weather shell made of colour-coated metal elements. To highlight the entrance area and the laboratory facade (ground floor north), a large-scale cladding with fibre cement panels is used.
