Description
The innovation developed within the IEM laboratory in Montpellier consists of the stabilisation of perovskite materials. The researcher behind this discovery has shown that a stable perovskite ink formulation can be implemented for the production of photovoltaic panels. The advantage of perovskites in photovoltaics is that the material allows the absorption of additional wavelengths that silicon materials are capable of. However, a major disadvantage limits the deployment of perovskites in solar today; the materials are very sensitive to light, humidity and heat. The innovative formulation offers a promising solution as preliminary results estimate stability beyond 25 years. If these results were demonstrated by measurements according to the standards in force, the perovskite photovoltaic market could finally develop and compete with silicon photovoltaics. The AxLR maturation proposal offers a development program for the technology in order to demonstrate the performance on representative photovoltaic modules. The subject of the contract aims to: -On the one hand, the production of small-area photovoltaic cells on glass substrate, with the objective of high power conversion efficiency according to solution-based implementation processes allowing for scale-up, and, -On the other hand, the production of intermediate-surface devices on glass substrate and, of flexible perovskite mini-modules, aiming for high energy conversion efficiency and demonstrating scalability via solution-based implementation techniques.
