Flyvestation Aalborg on the Dolphin Apron has recently faced challenges with the detachment of steel fibres from the surface of the existing concrete slabs. Steel fibres pose a risk of FOD, and in the worst case, steel fibres can be sucked into a jet engine and damage it. Therefore, the existing concrete slabs are removed and replaced with new concrete paving. The new concrete paving is carried out with concrete without steel fibre or any other form of fibre, thus eliminating the risk of FOD with steel fibres. In addition, the Defence Command also wishes to change the transverse slopes on the Dolphin Apron, which daily cause challenges when loading and unloading aircraft. Pre-qualified tenderers must submit/upload proof of ESPD before the announcement of the winner.
