See contract on the purchase of flow meters for operational flow measurement at the Hydrological Information Centre of the Hydraulic Laboratory. At more than 40 locations, flow velocities are continuously measured with H-ADCP devices that in different cells display the average flow velocity every 10s. These average flow velocities, together with the measured water level, are processed into flow rates, which are converted into the best available flow rates for the respective stations every 5’ to 15’ through regular flow calibrations. Since the knowledge and quality of these flow rates are very important for daily water management, we as a measurement service must try to reduce the downtime to a minimum and keep the quality as high as possible. In case of a device failure, we must be able to install an equally suitable alternative device and recalibrate it within a few days. For this purpose, we need to have a limited stock of flow meters and accessories and wish to achieve uniformity by implementing this.
