Swiss has been awarded the contract for the organisation and implementation of the Special Olympics World Winter Games Switzerland 2029. The Special Olympics World Winter Games, the second largest winter sports event after the Olympic Winter Games, will be held from 10 to 18 March 2029. They will take place in the regions of Graubünden and Zürich and up to 2,500 athletes with their accompanying support teams from over 100 nations are expected. Before the sporting events, the delegations will experience the so-called Host Town programme in 100 Swiss municipalities, which aims to facilitate exchange between athletes and the local population and also includes acclimatisation. The Special Olympics World Winter Games Switzerland 2029 Local Organizing Committee (LOCWWG2029) is a non-profit association that bears full responsibility for the planning and implementation of the World Winter Games Switzerland 2029.
