The Thessaloniki Municipality has fountains of various sizes, with single or multiple basins, equipped with electromechanical systems for creating complex and multi-layered water jets, installed in parks and squares. According to the Study No. 3/2026 (Appendix II of the Declaration No. 24/2026), of the Electrification & Energy Management Network Department, of the Directorate of Works of Reconstruction & Maintenance of Public Space, the execution of the works for the restoration of proper operation, according to the technical specifications and maintenance of the equipment, the electrical and hydraulic installations of the fountains, as well as the water shapes (such as the New Waterfront) is foreseen. The contractor that will result, must carry out, at regular time intervals (weekly, monthly and six-monthly), cleaning, descaling, chlorination, control, adjustment and repair works of the electromechanical-electronic equipment and the electrical installations (such as pumps, nozzles, valves, electric motors, electrical panels with electrical and electronic devices, speed controllers, cables, sensors, projectors and lighting of fountains, etc.), as well as the hydraulic installations (pipelines, shutters, electric valves, water tanks, etc.).
