Catholic Youth Care of the Diocese of Regensburg is the operator of the Pater-Rupert-Mayer Centre (PRMZ) in Regensburg, a support centre in the western part of the city of Regensburg, focusing on the physical-motor development of children, young people and young adults. The centre has existed since the 1970s and has been continuously expanded until 2010 (new construction of gymnasium and swimming pool). Large parts of the centre are now in need of renovation and do not have the necessary usable areas. The PRMZ is a three-track school with a vocational school level for physically disabled children and young people. The pre-school facility (SVE), which corresponds to the kindergarten in the regular school system, is attached to it. The rooms of the day centre (essentially dining room, therapy and group rooms, administration and management office) are integrated into the school area, with the aim of achieving the most optimal intermeshing of processes. The day centres are not part of the school construction programme and should be retained and reintegrated if possible. Further functional areas are a café and a chapel, these building components are also not part of the school construction programme. Ten years ago, the Kinderhaus was built, it is an independent organisational unit and is also not the subject of the intended measures. Adjacent to the site to the west is a former sports field, which can be included in the considerations, both for the construction period and for the implementation of the space programme.
