Germany – Architectural services for outdoor areas – Objektplanung Freianlagenplanung Neubau Psychiatrie (EVK-GE)

The structural development at the Evangelisches Klinikum Gelsenkirchen (short: EVK) is a key component in the established concept planning for the "Campus of Mental Health". The new Psychiatry building forms the first component of this development. Currently, there are five wards each with 21 beds. An additional need for 73 in-patient beds has been identified. The existing spaces have a significant space deficit. Some rooms, particularly consultation rooms and examination and treatment rooms, are used twice. The patient rooms and wards do not meet current standards, and there are three-bed rooms without en-suite facilities in some areas. To address the deficiencies in the existing building, these will gradually move into the new building. A partial inpatient day clinic with 32 places is currently located approximately 5km from the planning area and will be integrated into the new building as part of the holistic care. The new Psychiatry building will, in a first construction phase, accommodate the additional 73 beds as well as a partial relocation of the 105 beds in a coherent volume. In a second construction phase, the new building can be supplemented by an additional building section. This ensures the relocation of the remaining existing beds. The first construction phase of the Psychiatry building is the subject of this contract and has a coherent area of approximately 5,255 square meters of net usable floor area (NUF). The new Psychiatry building is planned on the property at the corner of Munckelstraße/Overwegstraße, in the immediate vicinity north of the main building of the Evangelisches Klinikum. The property has already been acquired and has an area of approximately 9,310 square meters.
