Switzerland – Works for complete or part construction and civil engineering work – EPFL - Entreprise Totale - Assainissement et bouclage d'un réseau d'eaux industrielles, y.c. création d'une station de découplage hydraulique au bord du lac contre la lutte de la propagation des Moules Quagga

The contract covers the study and construction as a Total Enterprise of the following parts of the works:

1. New decoupling station (SDD) including hydraulic adaptations in the pumping stations (SPP), the connecting pipes SPP and SDD and the discharge pipes to the lake between the SDD building and the interface inspection chamber of the pipes CCU/SDD.

2. New connecting pipes (land) SDD-PDR up to the redistribution station PDR, including the creation of a new pump room in the current underground parking of the EPFL BS building.

3. Renovation of the distribution network in the EPFL galleries from the PDR station to the various substations specific to each building on the campus, including the new return pipe and the hydraulic adaptations at the CCT.

The Total Enterprise will intervene from the "32. Work Design" phase to the "53. Commissioning, Completion" phase. The triggering element and the primary objective of the project is the protection against the proliferation of Quagga mussels in our pipes and the securing of the cooling network. However, the obsolescence of the pipes as well as our current cooling capacities, induce a global reflection on the future of the entire site of the EPFL and the UNIL in Ecublens. Therefore, the project includes the three objectives below:

1. Total protection of the cooling network pipes against the proliferation of Quagga mussels, thanks to hydraulic decoupling and a new closed-loop network.

2. Increase in cooling capacities to meet future needs due to new buildings and the increased demand of existing buildings.

3. Reduction of operating costs and energy optimization thanks to the looping of the network.
