Germany – Works of art – Neubau GS Schillerschule, Kunst am Bau Wettbewerb

The contract includes the artistic design up to and including the implementation of a work of art for the artistic design at the location of the Grundschule Schillerschule, Kaiserslautern. The aim of the Art-in-Architecture measure is to develop a plastic, identity-creating design made preferably of natural, sustainable and weather-resistant materials, which spatially and atmospherically shapes the entrance area between the public street space and the main entrance of the primary school. The artistic work should accompany pupils and visitors on their way to the main entrance, visibly welcome them and convey openness, community and the cultural diversity of the school community. The diversity of languages spoken at the school should be experienced as an expression of belonging, encounter and mutual respect. In addition, the design should be immediately tangible for children: playfully, haptically and on the scale of their world of life. Through a plastic and, if possible, actively usable design, the work should promote encounter, interaction and appropriation, vitalise the outdoor space and promote identification with the school location.
