Description

The city of Offenburg will host a Landesgartenschau (LGS) in 2032. As part of the LGS Offenburg, several bridges and footbridges will be built over the Kinzig, Mühlbach, and Räderbach. The design of the new bridges and footbridges will be based on the design concept of the LGS. The city of Offenburg will conduct two VgV procedures with solution approaches for the award of engineering construction services + structural design and traffic facilities (only Kinzig bridge). • VgV Kinzig bridge LGS North • VgV footbridges Mühl- and Räderbach The following task description refers to the redesign of the "Kinzig bridge LGS North", including ramp with connection to the cycle expressway and along the cycle expressway on the west side of the Kinzig, a approx. 100m long foot and cycle bridge over the Kinzig in the north of the LGS site near the railway bridge Rheintalbahn. Deutsche Bahn plans to demolish the existing railway bridge of the Rheintalbahn over the Kinzig with the adjacent foot and cycle path in 2040 and replace it with a pure railway bridge. As part of the LGS, a new foot and cycle path bridge is to be planned in advance and integrated into the permanent facilities of the LGS. The "Kinzig bridge LGS North", which spans both the Kinzig and the cycle expressway at the foot of the western Kinzig dam, is to create an attractive and barrier-free link between the planned cycle expressway along the foot of the western Kinzig dam and the important east-west cycle traffic route. The design of the bridges and footbridges has a central design and content-related role within the planning of the new park landscapes of the LGS. The aim is to develop innovative, sustainable and functional transitions that, beyond their pure connecting function, act as independent design elements. Bridges and footbridges are to serve as shaping connections between the various thematic areas of the horticultural show and at the same time symbolise the dialogue between nature, technology and landscape architecture. For the construction measure Kinzig bridge LGS North, over the Kinzig and the cycle expressway including ramp to the cycle expressway, a cost framework of approx. 3,200,000 EUR net construction costs has been determined.
