The use of sustainable and recyclable materials in the field of road and rail vehicles is gaining increasing relevance in today's world. A research focus of the Institute for Vehicle Concepts therefore lies in the development of natural materials (e.g. wood-based materials) for use in the structural area of these vehicles. In the research and development of such material and component concepts, the flammability and toxicity of the materials used play a central role. For investigations in the field of fire protection, a cone calorimeter and an FT-IR spectrometer are to be procured within the framework of the "Materials Lab for Zero Emission Mobility". With the help of this equipment, representative and standard-compliant investigations regarding the flammability and toxicity of these innovative materials are to be carried out.
