Description

The Max Planck Society plans to construct a new research building as an extension of the existing listed Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg. The building site and the existing institute are located in the southern part of the Neuenheimer Feld on the Neckar. The extension building has a total usable area of 6,410 m² (NUF1-7) and a gross floor area of 72,922 m³. The extension building is planned according to the specifications of an urban development feasibility study as a 10-storey high-rise building with a maximum building height of 45.25 m plus a technical centre on the roof and an underground special laboratory area in the south. Due to the high vibration protection requirements, the special laboratory area is structurally separated from the basement of the high-rise building. The new building will be connected to the existing institute building above and below ground via connecting structures. The above-ground connection is part of this measure. The underground connection has already been completed. The new building will provide space for highly vibration-sensitive laboratories, physical laser rooms, biochemical S1 laboratories and two S2 laboratories, a cleanroom area. Additionally, a precision mechanical and electronic workshop, chemical and hazardous material storage, and server rooms will be accommodated. Furthermore, offices, meeting rooms, a cafeteria and rest areas will be provided. This is a building of building class 5 according to § 2 LBO and is classified as a special structure according to § 38 LBO. The model guideline for the construction and operation of high-rise buildings (MHHR) will be used as the basis for assessment. The estimated construction costs for sections 300+400 amount to 67,900,000 € (net), and the total construction costs (sections 200-700, excluding sections 611 and 612) amount to 85,230,000 € (net). The scope of the main services from LPH 6 will be based on LPH 5. All measures to be carried out will be implemented during the ongoing operation of the neighbouring institutes. Due to the importance of the materials for later operation, material sampling plays a crucial role in the project. In the planning process, not only the special requirements regarding the technical systems, but also the usual work processes for such objects must be taken into account. In this respect, the Max Planck Society attaches importance to the fact that the bidders can draw on profound knowledge in the field of planning, tendering and, in particular, in the execution of the required uses. The meetings during the execution will take place in Heidelberg and via virtual meetings. At the time of the tender/instruction, the project is in LPH 5. The contractor must coordinate with the project planner commissioned by the client. The special requirements for the provision of services may make it necessary to be available for coordination meetings on short notice at the request of the client in Heidelberg or at the General Administration of the Max Planck Society in Munich. The contractor is required to operate a project communication platform (CDE platform) suitable for the specifications of the Max Planck Society.
