Germany – Demolition, site preparation and clearance work – Stiftung Schloss Marienburg: Bauabschnitt 2.1 Hangsicherung - Abbruch-, Mauer- und Naturwerksteinarbeiten

Renovation of Marienburg Castle, Construction Section 2.1 - Demolition, masonry and natural stone works in the area of slope stabilization and the arcade. The services include heritage-compliant demolition works, natural stone and masonry restoration, stonemasonry, joint repair, supply and installation of natural stone and bricks, injection and grouting works, disposal, and the necessary documentation. The slope area to be renovated consists of a solid rock wall made of Bundsandstein, up to approximately 13 m high and inclined up to approximately 65° to the horizontal. At the top of the slope, there is an arcade, which is supported on the slope by means of a vaulted construction. The main supporting element are natural stone corbels, which carry the vaults and were originally supported on the slope. Due to ingressing water and spreading vegetation, the individual rock slabs are continuously and successively loosening and the rock surface is decreasing. The bearing points of the corbels are largely no longer present. They are currently being secured by an emergency support made of steel. The arcade is closed and must not be entered. The natural stone elements of the arcade and the associated walls made of natural stone above the rock slope will also be renovated. In the arcade, the restoration of the vault and the reconstruction of the floor structure incl. drainage is required.
