The Holy Spirit Church in Heidelberg is the most important church in Heidelberg and, together with Heidelberg Castle and the old bridge over the Neckar, shapes the cityscape of Heidelberg. The original university church is the founding site of the oldest university in Germany and was the location of what was once the most significant library in Germany, the Bibliotheca Palatina. The entire library was removed to the Vatican during the Thirty Years' War, and the German-language books and prints were returned to the University Library in Heidelberg after the Congress of Vienna. As part of the planned construction project, an exhibition about the Bibliotheca Palatina is planned to be built on the galleries of the Holy Spirit Church, which have been empty for over 400 years.
