Denmark – Construction works for sewage treatment plants, purification plants and refuse incineration plants – Udvidelse af Horsens Centralrenseanlæg

HORSENS VAND A/SDenmarkPublished on May 18, 2026
No deadline given

Description

The Horsens Central Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed for 210,000 Population Equivalent (PE) with a high degree of industrial loading, and is sometimes heavily loaded, based on traditional static design calculations and the current plant configuration. Nevertheless, the treatment plant has performed well in relation to a previous nitrogen requirement of 8 mgTN/l. The treatment plant is now, as part of the Action Directive, subject to a tightened treatment requirement of 3.5 mgTN/l in the discharge from the treatment plant. This means that overall, the biological capacity must be expanded so that the treatment plant can meet an average discharge requirement of 3.5 mgTN/l. Due to the increased hydraulic loading as a result of increasingly extreme rainfall events, the hydraulics of the Horsens Central Wastewater Treatment Plant have been updated in recent years. This included new screens, new inlet pumps, updated intermediate pump station and a thickener (S::Select). Now it is the turn of the sand and grease trap, where the treatment plant is process-technically limited to 2,700 m3/h, while it is hydraulically limited to 6,500 m3/h. It is desired to double this capacity, so that upon completion of the project at the treatment plant, there are two new/renovated sand and grease traps with a total process-technical capacity of 5,400 m3/h and a hydraulic capacity of 13,000 m3/h. The project is tendered as a total enterprise, including, design, earth and concrete enterprise, blacksmith and machine enterprise, electrical enterprise, groundwater lowering and cleaning, as well as all relevant engineering calculations for the total enterprise with process guarantee.
