The Speicherstadt was excluded from the scope of the HafenEG in 2012. This is to enable the land areas of the Speicherstadt to be represented as "mixed building areas" analogous to the adjacent areas of the HafenCity and the inner city and to be developed as an inner-city quarter. In addition, the Speicherstadt was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2015, together with the adjacent Kontorhaus district and the Chilehaus, under the name "Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus district with Chilehaus". Furthermore, the Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), as the owner of the Speicher buildings, plans to renovate and convert a large number of Speicher blocks. The historical use of the Speicherstadt is to remain visible in the urban landscape. The ReGe is planning various quay wall and bridge renovations on behalf of the LIG. These cover a large area of the Speicherstadt and will be carried out successively until approximately 2034. Following the mentioned renovation measures, the road surfaces are to be constructed. The planning required for this includes the present invitation to tender.
