The District of Paderborn plans the renovation and expansion of the Hermann-Schmidt-Schule, a special needs school at Merschweg 6, 33104 Paderborn. The background is the increasing demand for school places. The office conceptk has prepared a feasibility study for this purpose. On this basis, the necessary requirements were determined and defined in workshops with the school authorities. The District of Paderborn has already completed the approval planning. The building permit including the fire safety concept is available. The objective of the measure is:

- the adaptation of classrooms to modern teaching and learning concepts

- the structural improvement with consideration of accessibility and inclusion

- the integration of the measure into the ongoing school operation

- the economic and sustainable implementation in the existing structure

The District of Paderborn, as the school authority of the Hermann-Schmidt-Schule, intends to further develop the structural framework conditions of the school in a future-proof manner. Against the background of the school development plan for special needs schools, a qualified design for the renovation, refurbishment and expansion of teaching areas is to be found through a Europe-wide competition. The aim is to develop functional, pedagogically high-quality and economical solutions that meet the special requirements of a special school building.
