The severe storms in July 2021 heavily affected the rail infrastructure in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia. Particularly bridges and supporting structures as well as signal boxes along the routes were damaged and partially completely destroyed. In addition, many kilometers of tracks, level crossings, and train stations need to be rebuilt. For the project, all PS0 points must be checked in the entire surveying area and PS0 arcs must be densified with PS1 points. The target system of the measure is DB_REF2016 in terms of position and height. In addition, the PS4 fixed point field in the electrified areas should also be transferred to DB_REF2016. A track geometric survey with subsequent as-built surveying in the specified survey areas should be carried out. The aim of the survey is to obtain a basic network and a track geometric survey in the named project area of the Eifel route. The fixed point field, track data and plans are currently mostly in heterogeneous reference systems, but due to the effects of the storms at the time, it is not ensured that the fixed point field according to the data basis and the track position still correspond to the original state according to the target alignment.
