Belgium – Construction work for steel bridges – Vernieuwen balansen Noordkasteelbruggen

The purpose of the contract is to renew the balance structures of both the North Castle Bridges (both the eastern and western bridges). The renewal of the North Castle Bridges' balances is a necessary intervention to continue to guarantee the initially proposed lifespan of the bridges. The scope, in order of magnitude, includes:

- Renewing balance arms and boxes (+ filling) with new welded latticework balances

- Renewing tie rods

- Repairing anchorages and A-pins

- Replacing main pivot points East Bridge (A+B+C+D bearings) cfr current configuration

- Optimising all bearings East and West Bridge

- All necessary dismantling and assembly works

With the condition that the existing flights, seat, heel beams, drive and electrical installations are to be retained.

Important: We already indicate in this phase that for this contract the steel producer must possess proof of a valid EN-ISO 9001 certified quality system, issued by a certifying body recognised by a national accreditation body (minimum tender requirement). The certification will be requested for each steel supplier or producer who will supply steel within this work. Therefore, it will not be sufficient to add an ISO 9001 certificate from the main contractor. It is important that the steel producer works according to ISO 9001, meaning that they must comply with a certain quality standard for the production and traceability of the steel. Steel producers are not considered as third entities.
