Description

The digitalisation of road infrastructure management enables structures such as bridges to be digitally mapped and proactively controlled over their lifecycle. At the core is the Digital Twin (DT) – a virtual, dynamic representation that is continuously supplied with data through bidirectional coupling and derives forecasts and recommendations for action. For federal trunk roads, a federated, modular data and integration concept is envisaged. For bridge structures, there are numerous data sets from as-built documentation, structure inspections, monitoring and expert procedures, but these are held in different formats by various stakeholders and are only partially linked. There is a lack of a reliable basis for the continuous integration required for a Digital Twin. The practical implementation of the BASt-IT framework architecture on a real structure has not been sufficiently demonstrated. The aim of the FE project is the structure-specific implementation of a Digital Twin for a pilot structure, validating the BASt-IT framework architecture using the example of a real bridge structure. The DT is understood as an operational object twin based on maturity level 2. The pilot project covers three use cases: lifecycle management for maintenance planning, dynamic condition-based monitoring based on monitoring data, and a further use case to be agreed with BASt. The benefits include the demonstration of the specialist added value, validation of the IT framework architecture, derivation of transferable requirements for data integration and quality, and assessment of application-specific extensions. The results will serve as the basis for further pilot projects and integration into administrative operating and maintenance processes.
