Description

The IT provider and digitalisation partner of the DB Group, the AG, aims to expand its portfolio to include solutions in the field of immersive technologies. The goal is to establish group-wide standard services, in this specific case for the mediation or presentation of content based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology. To be able to supply further companies of Deutsche Bahn AG as customers of the contracting authority with services of this kind, a software solution is needed with which AR scenarios can be created and consumed with low threshold. The focus is on "Expert Generated Content". Users without programming knowledge should be able to create AR scenes intuitively and independently with an editor (Low-/No-Code). With this, different element types should be able to be created and placed spatially, as well as interaction possibilities and a subdivision into different sections defined. The focus for the creation and consumption of these contents lies initially mainly on mobile devices (smartphones and tablets), since these are already available to all employees throughout the Group. For individual application cases, as well as to ensure the future viability of the service offer, XR devices (HMDs) should also be supported. Therefore, solutions that are exclusively limited to specific hardware are not desired. The software solution of the contractor will be provided to the AG as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), i.e. the operation of the software solution is carried out completely by the contractor in one of the cloud environments of the contractor.
