The subject of this tender is the procurement of a highly available virtualisation platform, including necessary hardware, software licences, manufacturer support and services for the replacement or modernisation of the existing virtualisation infrastructure of the Gemeinschaftsklinikum Mittelrhein. The new solution must ensure the operation of approximately 300 virtual machines in an Active-Active data centre architecture and provide the essential functions of the existing VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus / VMware Cloud Foundation environment in a functionally equivalent manner. These include, in particular, high availability, automated load distribution, live migration of virtual machines, location-independent operation and central administration. The tender is designed to be open to manufacturers and technologies. Both solutions based on alternative virtualisation platforms and concepts in which VMware is continued to be used can be offered. The offered solution must meet the functional, technical and economic requirements defined in the procurement documents. The bidders must submit an architecture and migration concept that either provides for the continued use of the existing Dell-VxRail hardware or its complete replacement. The use of hyperconverged as well as classic 3-tier architectures is permitted. The use of VMware vSAN is not required. Furthermore, the scope of services includes the provision of all necessary hardware and software components, the integration of the existing Veeam Backup & Replication environment by means of agentless backup methods, the implementation including knowledge transfer as well as the support of the migration of all virtual machines. The existing VMware subscription expires on 30.03.2027. The offered solution must therefore be fully productive, migrated and accepted, including all productive workloads, by 15.03.2027 at the latest. The period between 15.03.2027 and the expiry of the existing VMware licensing serves as a risk buffer and stabilisation phase.
