Switzerland – Central-heating installation work – Wärmeverbund Zumikon Ersatz Wärmeerzeugung

The district heating plant or main supply of the district heating network of the municipality of Zumikon is located in the Juch school building. The district heating network is operated by 2 fossil fuel boilers (2x 750kW) and a water/water heat pump with a capacity of 550 kW (Total 2,050 kW). The heat pump is owned by Energie 360°. This company also operates and maintains the heat pump. The system mix of a fossil fuel heating system with a heat pump results in high return temperatures in the system during the transition and summer periods, which can damage the heat pump. During the winter period, the network functions correctly and results in an acceptable return temperature of approximately +45°C according to feedback from Energie 360°. Energie 360° has not made any adjustments to the network except for an adjustment to the regulation in the Juch school building (Syspo). The high return temperatures of the district heating network are due to the lack of communication between the individual substations. The regulations, circulation pumps and heat meters in the individual substations (total 8) are outdated and in need of renovation. The reading of all heat meters in the substations is done manually and cannot currently be read at a control level. With the present invitation to tender, the replacement of the heat generation or the renewal of the equipment for properties A, B, D, E, G, H and J is being sought. The Zentrumscafe and the community centre are excluded from the planning perimeter, as a renovation project for these properties is pending.
