Description

The infrastructure of Zurich Airport is undergoing a phased renewal process. Over the past 15 years, various parts of the central airport infrastructure have been comprehensively renovated and expanded: Dock B was completely rebuilt, Terminal 2 was totally renovated and expanded, and a new security control building with centralized access to the Airside Center was created between Terminals 1 and 2. Currently, the central baggage sorting system north of Terminal 1 is being expanded, and the airport-wide baggage sorting system is being replaced and renewed. In the next step, the aged parts of the central airport infrastructure must be replaced: Dock A was commissioned together with the Tower in 1985 and has remained largely unchanged in its structure to this day. In terms of functionality, sustainability, and quality, Dock A can no longer meet today's requirements. Based on a comprehensive analysis, it was decided to replace the existing Dock A with a new building north of the current building. The replacement new building for Dock A, the new tower, and the comprehensively renovated apron to Dock A with all further adaptations, expansions, and renovations of the central airport infrastructure are the most visible major construction measures of the next 15 to 20 years. During the phased implementation, it must be ensured that operations can continue as normal and that the future functional requirements can be met with the newly created buildings. The project PWA «Perimeterfreilegung Wurzel A» includes the implementation of adaptations to existing media and systems. These are located both inside and outside the demolition perimeter of the root of Dock A. The work is to be carried out for the construction state of the dismantling and for the further phases of the main project Airside in the period from 2026-2033. Essential parts of the building technology for the supply of the control tower, root of Dock A, Dock A, Airside Center and the passport control hall are located in the demolition perimeter of the root of Dock A. In the sub-project PWA.T4 described here, the network for ICT and the associated low-voltage systems (fibre optic cables and copper cables, e.g. for telephony, bundled radio, mobile, etc.) is involved. All media that run through the root of Dock A in the existing structure must be relocated and dismantled, which is why various provisional relocations are necessary. Several steps that need to be carried out in succession are necessary for this, which is why the project is further subdivided. The first step (PWA.T4.1) implements an autonomous Dock A (A20). In the further, future steps (PWA.T4.2 to PWA.T4.4), the media in the INNERERN media channel and in the FLUSI channel must be relocated because they have to give way to the project DTW at a later date. The subject of the present invitation to tender is the sub-project PWA.T4 Network for ICT and the associated low-voltage systems (fibre optic cables and copper cables, e.g. for telephony), which is embedded in the project EFHK PWA «Perimeterfreilegung Wurzel A». For the implementation, electrical contractor services for the SIA Phase 5 are sought. Preparation – Participation in project meetings and clarifications and obtaining permits – Coordination of interface/neighbouring projects – Coordination of various specialist services of Flughafen Zürich AG, in particular with the operation of the airport – Coordination and detailed planning with various specialist departments responsible for the respective customer concerns. In doing so, the customer requirements regarding maximum permissible downtimes, available redundancies, and necessary risk measures must be taken into account, as interruptions are sometimes not permissible or only permissible with accompanying measures, particularly during holiday and peak operating phases. Technical implementation – AVOR partially taking into account customer-specific requirements – Construction site facilities, provisional measures – Surveying of the existing cables – Adapting the infrastructure – Creating the installations according to the performance description incl. weekend and night surcharges – Creating the patching and commissioning according to the performance description incl. weekend and night surcharges. Due to the extremely reduced time windows required for both the interruption and the subsequent recommissioning, it is essential to assume that night work will be carried out. In doing so, corresponding roll-back scenarios must be conceived in detail in advance and implemented properly if necessary. Furthermore, the entirety of the measures is additionally complicated by the fact that a procedure to be carried out in stages over several years is necessary. Completion of work – Participation and involvement in commissioning and acceptance – Dismantling of installations incl. proper disposal in consultation with FZAG – Reporting of fire barriers to be repaired – Creating the documentation incl. feedback to media management lists Fault rectification – Due to the fact that both customer lines and operationally relevant lines can be affected, possible fault rectifications must be able to be located and addressed within approximately 30 to 60 minutes in order to intervene immediately if necessary.
