Hamburg Hochbahn AG intends to award the services for the construction of a basement for the new construction of a U-Bahn workshop hall in Hamburg-Barmbek. The existing workshop hall (Hall 4) for U-Bahn operating and passenger vehicles on the U-Bahn depot Barmbek will be demolished and subsequently rebuilt. The site is located between the tracks of the U-Bahn line 3, the tracks of the S-Bahn line 1, the Barmbek branch canal, and Hellbrookstraße. The construction site is located along the southern boundary of the property along the tracks of the U-Bahn line U3. Access to the construction site is only possible from Hellbrookstraße along the north-south axis of the property. All other buildings and facilities on the yard, including the track layout, will remain in operation throughout the construction project. Space for the construction site setup is only available to a limited extent. The existing hall from the 1910s will be demolished in advance on an area of approx. 4,300 m² to ground level. The basement will remain and be filled with demolition material. The demolition of the basement will be carried out with the excavation of the basement. The new construction comprises a fully basemented workshop hall with a base area of approx. 5,700 m² as well as two storeys, which are partially built above the hall ceiling and used for ancillary workshops and training purposes.
