Refurbishment and expansion of the Westpfalz-Klinikum at the Kirchheimbolanden site

The Westpfalz-Klinikum is located on the western outskirts of Kirchheimbolanden and consists of several building sections from different periods. The oldest part of the complex is the Ward 5 and the adjacent treatment building (outpatient clinics + operating theatre) from the mid-1950s. In the 1990s, extensions were added to the operating theatre department, the entrance area with cafeteria/staff dining facilities, and the intensive care unit. From 2000 onwards, additions were made to the delivery room, followed by the outpatient operating theatre centre and the new medical directorate in 2011. As the final component, a 4-storey medical centre was built directly adjacent to the emergency department.

To the south, east, and north are residential areas, while to the west there is no immediate development, only green meadows and fields that lead uphill to forested areas. As part of the planned measure, the hospital will receive a new building on the eastern side of the clinic, as well as an extension in a north-eastern building section.
