Description

Subject of the assignment: This contract relates to the purchase, testing, delivery and installation of a pilot plant for CO2 capture.

Explanation: This contract concerns the purchase, design, construction, testing and installation of a modular pilot plant for solvent-based CO2 capture using high-intensity vortex gas pre-treatment, absorption and desorption units, and an integrated heat-recovery network to minimize overall thermal-energy demand. The aim of this modular pilot plant is to:

• Continuously remove 1-10 kg CO2 h-1 from gas streams of up to 100 Nm3 h-1 containing 3-25 vol % CO2, while circulating 20-500 kg h-1 of solvent.

• Operate at solvent temperatures of up to 150 °C and pressures of up to 10 barg.

• Provide a configurable heat-integration package to achieve a target desorption energy consumption ≤ 1.7 GJ t-1 CO2.

• Consist of small skid-mounted modules that can be interconnected in various ways, allowing phased experimentation and future expansion in throughput or stage count.

This contract includes 1 lot, including 5 mandatory options and 1 non-mandatory option.

Lot: Design, construction, factory acceptance test, delivery, site-acceptance test of the complete modular pilot plant.

Mandatory options:

1. Gas pretreatment vortex unit Fabrication of a UGent designed Gas-Liquid-Vortex unit.

2. CO2 absorption vortex unit Fabrication of a UGent designed Gas-Liquid-Vortex unit with integrated liquid cooling.

3. CO2 desorption vortex unit Fabrication of a UGent designed Gas-Liquid-Vortex unit with integrated electronic components.

4. Factory experimental test A period of performing reactive experiments with several configurations of the modular setup, at the supplier’s premises.

5. On-site installation Unpacking, installation and functional test by the supplier.

Non-mandatory options:

2. Analytical equipment Specify, supply, install and configure several analytical equipment such as IR, NDIR, FTIR and RGA.
