Germany – District-heating mains construction work – Fernwärmeausbau Mozartstraße

The City of Landau in der Pfalz, in collaboration with EnergieSüdwest AG, is pursuing an ambitious plan to transition its heat supply to renewable energies, particularly through the expansion of district heating based on deep geothermal energy. The goal is to meet the entire heat demand of the city and its outlying villages by 2045 in a climate-neutral and affordable manner. A central element of this plan is the use of deep geothermal energy. The available geothermal energy is considered sufficient to meet the entire heat demand of Landau. Starting in 2028, a central heat supply from deep geothermal energy will be available in the new industrial area Messegelände-Südost (D12), which will be gradually expanded to the entire municipality. Implementing these measures requires the step-by-step construction of a new district heating network. Approximately 6 to 8 kilometers of district heating pipes can be laid each year to avoid disrupting traffic. In the meantime, some outlying villages will initially be supplied decentralised until they can be connected to the district heating network in the long term. The City of Landau and EnergieSüdwest AG are committed to making the heat supply climate-neutral. Through these comprehensive measures, Landau aims to achieve a sustainable and future-proof heat supply that offers both ecological and economic benefits to its citizens. The nominal diameter of the media pipes is between DN 50 - DN 450 with an outer diameter of 125 mm to 800 mm (insulation series 3) for the flow and return lines. House connection lines will be manufactured in the STANDRAD insulation series. The medium transported is hot water. The data are: operating temperature: 95°C, calculation temperature: 110°C, nominal pressure stage: PN 25, network monitoring system: BRANDES. For leakage monitoring, monitoring wires will be foamed into the composite system (Brandes system).
