Description

SachsenEnergie AG (hereinafter SE) operates the Central District Heating Network (ZFHN) of the city of Dresden. For heat supply, heating power plants, a pressure heat accumulator, electrode boilers and various decentralised heat pumps are operated at three central locations. As part of the planned decarbonisation, the share of regenerative heat generation is to be significantly increased by the addition of further heat pump and electrode boiler capacities. Against this background, SE wishes to have an atmospheric 2-zone large heat storage system constructed at the site of the HKW Nossener Brücke / east of Fabrikstraße. The large heat storage system will have a usable volume of 50,000 m³ of hot water and a storage capacity of 2,800-3,000 MWh. The charging/discharging power from a minimum of 10 MWth to a maximum of 150 MWth is to be implemented. The maximum flow temperature of the storage system will be 115 °C. The large heat storage system consists of a hot water tank approximately 60 m high with an outer diameter including facade of approximately 41 m. The tank will be connected to the pump hall B25m x L31m x H13.4m via two pipelines (flow and return) by a pipeline bridge. The pump hall contains the pumps on the ground floor and the flow and return distributors on the first floor on a grid floor. The flow and return distributor will be connected to the existing channel Ammonstraße via a district heating canal under the pump hall. The control/process control and the electrical supply are housed in the switchgear extension of the pump hall. The site offers particularly favourable conditions for the construction and integration of the system: - existing electrical power supply at medium voltage level - existing connection to the district heating network - available developable areas and generally feasible approval - synergies in operation and maintenance through spatial proximity to existing systems and existing operating personnel at the Nossener Brücke power plant site. The large heat storage system is to be operational by 2030 at the latest.
