Description

Background The haltetaxiRRReis service has been operating in Gelderland since April 2022. The service complements scheduled public transport and operates from stop to stop or from stop to bus or train station at times and locations where regular public transport is not possible. In addition to the regular bus stops and train stations, there are also 85 haltetaxiRRReis stops in places where no regular public transport is available.

The contract with the current carrier expires in April 2027. The evaluation of haltetaxiRRReis shows that the service is a valuable addition to public transport. The new contract will allow this service to continue. In the new contract, the service will continue under the name flexRRReis Gelderland, aligning with the naming convention used for demand-responsive transport in Gelderland, Flevoland and Overijssel. The Province of Gelderland is the contracting authority for the tender.

Objectives of the contract

FlexRRReis Gelderland supplements public transport by providing flexible on-demand travel from stop to stop. This form of transport has no fixed route or schedule. This service is primarily intended as feeder and connector transport for public transport (PT). FlexRRReis Gelderland is a good alternative when walking or cycling is not possible. Sometimes, passengers share a vehicle. Together with public transport, flexRRReis Gelderland serves all the towns in the province. When there is no (local) bus and/or train available at certain times, flexRRReis Gelderland provides the feeder and connector transport up to a maximum of 15 kilometers.

Train stations, bus stops and interchanges form the link between this taxi service and public transport. This includes existing PT stops and additional stops in areas where there is no PT connection. Passengers can order flexRRReis Gelderland for departure or arrival time and receive a message when they are picked up. Anyone who is able to travel by public transport can use the service, including passengers in a wheelchair.
