Description

Brief Description

At Zurich Airport, the central infrastructure is being modernised step by step. Over the past 15 years, central areas have been extensively renovated: Dock B has been completely redesigned, Terminal 2 has been fundamentally renovated and expanded, and a new security control centre with direct access to the Airside Centre has been created between Terminals 1 and 2. Furthermore, the baggage sorting system north of Terminal 1 and the entire baggage sorting system have been renewed. Next, the renewal of those infrastructure elements that have aged significantly is on the agenda. Thus, Dock A, including the tower, dates back to 1985 and has remained structurally almost unchanged. In terms of functionality, environmental standards and structural quality, it no longer meets current requirements. A comprehensive review led to the decision to replace the current Dock A with a new building north of the existing building. The planned new Dock A, the future tower and the completely renovated apron, together with further infrastructural adaptations, form the central construction projects for the next 15 to 20 years. The implementation will be carried out in stages – with the premise that the flight operations continue to run smoothly and the newly created facilities meet future operational requirements. Following the above-mentioned facts, the project VEB Verdrängung B10 / B (PA19AA572 VPK 25-06-007) deals with the new construction and expansion of the VIP / EDA-Lounge, which is currently located under the Airside Centre at the root of Dock A. The new location is on the south side of Terminal 2 on floors 1 and 2 and offers VIP guests a direct connection to the special processes. A new staff access to the airside will also be created, replacing the staff access in the root of Dock A.
