For government bodies to make data-driven decisions, high-quality data is required. Anyone, at any time or place, should be able to independently find answers to fundamental questions for their work, quickly, securely, and based on high-quality data that enables informed decision-making. Many current processes at the UIB have highlighted the serious problems caused by a lack of information or information of poor quality. For example, various requests from auditors in processes of monitoring and accreditation of official degrees due to the lack of certain key information; or the amount of time spent manually cleaning low-quality information that a project of this nature will automate. For all these reasons, the 2023-2027 strategic plan of the University of the Balearic Islands has 3 strategic objectives related to the corporate information factory: - Teaching Objective 12: Being able to make accurate decisions about teaching based on reliable and up-to-date data. - Transfer Objective 10: Account to society for the activities carried out through the publication of objective indicators. - Management Objective 8: Have high-quality corporate information through the construction of a data factory. The benefits of this solution in terms of efficiency and quality extend to many institutional processes. Some of these are: - Monitoring and accreditation of official degrees. - Implementation of a new quality system based on the AUDIT programme of ANECA. - Generation, validation and sending of SIIU files. - Monitoring of the implementation of the institutional Strategic Plan. - Proactive transparency, with the web publication of objective data. - Obtaining high-quality data for participation in university rankings such as CyD, THE Times, Shangai, THE Impact and GreenMetric. - Automating the collection of data from the annual academic report.
