Description

The Dorschberg Primary School in Wörth a. Rh. was constructed in 1966 and is located behind the central building of the Carl–Benz Comprehensive School in Wörth am Rhein. The primary school consists of four building sections, including a single- or two-storey building section with connecting corridors, a break hall with an administrative wing, and a single-storey pavilion building with four pavilion buildings. The buildings are connected by break corridors and have two toilet buildings. The single- to two-storey buildings were constructed using solid construction methods with concrete precast elements and have flat roofs at different height levels with a surrounding attic and have been renovated and modernised several times to date. In the mid-1990s, concrete renovation work was carried out. As part of this, a thermal insulation composite system and the Alucobond cladding of the attics and precast concrete supports were installed. Key construction measures:

- The existing single-storey classroom wing will be extended upwards, and the former courtyard area between the two existing classroom wings will be enclosed and covered. To this end, the insufficiently load-bearing prestressed concrete ceiling above the northern classroom wing will be dismantled and replaced by a new solid reinforced concrete ceiling.

- The new upper floor will be constructed using prefabricated timber construction methods with load-bearing walls as solid timber construction or timber frame construction and the top floor ceiling as cross-laminated timber construction.

- The central auditorium will be fitted with a glass roof structure.

- The prestressed concrete ceiling in the corridor area above the existing crawl space of the north wing must be reinforced by steel beams.

- Minor layout changes to the existing structure

- The pavilions will be gutted and converted into an extended covered courtyard area

- Improvement of the thermal insulation of all building envelope surfaces (roof surfaces, windows, rear-ventilated timber facades, cellar ceiling insulation)

- Modernisation of the building services equipment, including controlled ventilation system with heat recovery, energy-saving lighting systems, building automation, including the digital requirements for school buildings

- Optimisation of fire protection and implementation of the school safety concept.
