Germany – Road traffic-control equipment – ÜSTRA C-ITS OBU KOM

As part of the "C-Roads" (CRG-3) project, a replacement of the analog radio-based public transport (ÖV) acceleration for motor buses is to be tested. Unlike the predecessor project "LOGIN" (optimal control of traffic lights in local transport), in which a proof of concept of the C-ITS-based ÖV acceleration could be achieved with the involvement of various research partners, C-Roads relies on market-ready hardware. In addition, integration into the existing ITCS/operational control system of IVU Traffic Technologies AG (IVU) is to take place, for example for the visualisation of switching time forecasts. ÜSTRA has applied for grants from the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), which have been approved by grant notification dated 16 October 2024. A partial financing has been approved. ÜSTRA intends to utilise the grants. Therefore, ÜSTRA expects the services advertised to be completed on schedule. The subject of the advertised service is the delivery and functional provision of a vehicle-side C-ITS-based ÖV acceleration, which includes all services for an integrated system. This includes, among other things, the delivery and installation of C-ITS OBUs, antennas, and the integration between these components up to the interface with the ITCS onboard computer. The system to be offered is to be implemented and verifiably billed as a permanently functioning overall system within 15 months after the order. By using a C-ITS-based ÖV acceleration, a future-proof and standardised system is to be implemented that can be flexibly and manufacturer-independently expanded.
