The subject of the contract is the supply, subscription and access to individual foreign electronic periodicals, packages of foreign electronic periodicals from publishers, general databases (full-text and bibliographic) and e-books during 2027, for the University Library of the University of Alicante, divided into the following lots:

Lot 1: Individual foreign electronic periodicals and Packages of foreign electronic periodicals from publishers.

Lot 2: General databases (full-text and bibliographic) and E-books.

The processing of this procedure is justified by the need to cover the needs derived from research and teaching at this University, for which it is necessary to contract the supply of the collection of periodicals, e-books, databases and packages of foreign electronic periodicals from publishers that are the subject of this tender. For this purpose, a number of electronic periodical subscriptions of more than 74,000 titles is subscribed, individually or in packages. The management of all these subscriptions requires specialized agents in the publishing sector. With this contract, the University of Alicante: - Avoids the dispersion in the management of subscriptions by concentrating and homogenizing the processing and exercising greater control over access claims - Has a single interlocutor per lot that manages the electronic access to the periodicals of dozens of different publishers. The use of this collection is analyzed and evaluated annually, through indicators such as cost-effectiveness and is presented in the User Commissions that are held every year with the aim of adapting the different resources to the teaching and research needs.
