Description

Hamburg Energiewerke GmbH (HEnW) is a 100 % municipally owned energy supplier of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. As part of the energy transition and the coal phase-out, HEnW is developing the site of the former Moorburg hard-coal power plant into a modern energy site. The entity responsible for this site development is HEnW Energiehub Moorburg GmbH (hereinafter the "Contracting Authority"), a company of Hamburger Energiewerke, which is implementing and operating the "Energie Hub Moorburg (EHM)". One sub-project of this site development is the construction of a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). To realise this plant, the Contracting Authority intends to commission a general contractor under an EPC contract model (Engineering, Procurement and Construction). This project description forms the basis of the preceding prequalification competition and informs interested applicants about the subject, scope and key boundary conditions of the project.
