ETH Zurich offers its students not only an excellent academic education, but also an inspiring environment for personal engagement. Many students actively participate in organisations, events and projects, thereby acquiring valuable interdisciplinary skills. The Student Project House promotes interdisciplinary, extracurricular collaboration in an inspiring ‘maker-space’. The university also provides professional structures to promote entrepreneurship and technology transfer. To further strengthen student and entrepreneurial initiatives, the new building HIC is planned on the Hönggerberg campus. It will provide space for various groups: the VSETH, which represents students in committees and offers a variety of services; the SOSETH, which provides technical infrastructure and creative offerings; the Student Project House, which enables practical project work; and various Competition Teams, which lead ETH students to peak performance in international competitions. Entrepreneurship is also specifically promoted. With the new building HIC, a central location for exchange, innovation and business development will be created. The ETH-Entrepreneurships will have a common platform here to strengthen technology-oriented start-ups and bring creative ideas to application. This offer is complemented by ETH-Juniors, which acts as a student consulting firm. This spatial concentration creates a dynamic environment that promotes marketable innovations and sustainably strengthens the innovation location of Switzerland. The new building comprises approximately 5,600 m2 of usable floor space. The result of the integrated project delivery tender is a clearly defined project according to the functional requirements defined in the tender, including an offer with a binding lump sum for its realisation. After the integrated project delivery tender, ETH intends to commission the overall service provider (GL) proposed by the evaluation committee with the planning and execution.
