The municipality of Senden intends to build a new canteen on the Senden school campus. In total, four schools of different types will be supplied by the planned canteen. The architecture firm Herrmann & Bosch from Stuttgart won a design competition with its design, which is characterised by a continuous timber construction method. A particular feature is the timber construction, which is based on screw pile foundations and forms the base slab of the building. The clear, easily readable design with its longitudinally directed room proportions on a continuous building grid, integrates into the park landscape of the Senden school campus as a single-storey building with a recessed technical storey on the flat roof. Inside, visitors are greeted in a foyer, from which the longitudinally directed dining room opens to the south behind a glass facade with a projecting roof overhang. To the north, the central kitchen and further ancillary areas extend over a total length of approx. 56 m. The canteen is designed to operate approx. 600 meals daily in a 3-shift operation. The user groups include children from primary school to the upper secondary school level. It is currently assumed that the preparation method will be "cook & freeze". The specialist planning services for the technical building equipment "kitchen planning" are now to be awarded in a negotiated procedure with a selection contest.
