Description

The municipality of Twist plans to construct a new primary school, the Ansgarschule, in the Twist-Siedlung district (Ansgarstraße 19, 49767 Twist), to meet the pedagogical, organisational and structural requirements of a modern and future-proof primary school site. In the 2025/2026 school year, the Ansgarschule will be attended by a total of 111 pupils in eight classes. Additionally, seven pupils will be taught at the school site in a cooperative class of the Jakob-Muth-Schule in Vitus Trägerschaft. This cooperative class is a learning group for children with special educational needs. The development of pedagogy and changed organisational frameworks present new requirements for school buildings. Modern teaching methods are increasingly diverse, open and focused on individual learning processes. At the same time, digitalisation is changing access to knowledge and the design of learning content and learning spaces. Another central aspect is inclusion, which, particularly at this site, must be considered as a comprehensive requirement for the design of learning environments. Furthermore, full-day care in primary schools will be mandatory nationwide from the 2026/2027 school year, creating additional spatial and functional requirements. In addition to the pedagogical requirements, current technical, energy and ecological standards must also be taken into account in the planning. The aim is to create a resource-efficient, energy-efficient and sustainable building with a high quality of stay that meets the requirements for climate protection, economic efficiency and future viability. In addition, urban planning aspects must also be taken into account in the planning. The aim should be for the new building to integrate appropriately into the existing environment and at the same time to have a clear address-forming effect for the school site. In this context, the location of the school building, the design of the traffic routes and the use of freed-up areas are particularly relevant. In addition to infrastructural aspects, social, ecological and economic aspects should be appropriately taken into account in order to ensure sustainable and balanced development of the district. The realisation of the new building is intended to create a modern, inclusive and sustainable educational infrastructure that not only secures the long-term quality of primary education at the site, including with regard to inclusion, but also takes into account urban planning objectives for the district.
