The district of Vorpommern-Greifswald is awarding the planning, construction, and operation of an effective and scalable gigabit infrastructure to provide reliable 1 Gigabit/s symmetrical telecommunications services in underserved addresses in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, with the grant of a viability gap funding in accordance with the guideline "Promotion to support the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in the Federal Republic of Germany" (Gigabit Guideline 2.0) of 31.03.2023 (so-called dark grey areas). The corresponding funds have already been provisionally approved. In addition, the district has applied for and been provisionally approved for co-financing under the guideline for the promotion of the gigabit expansion of telecommunications networks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Gigabit Promotion Guideline – GigabitFöRL M-V).
