Description

St. Joseph's Hospital consists of many older buildings of different ages and conditions. The properties have been added and interlocked over the years as part of expansion measures. The wide range of medical disciplines of the clinic are distributed across the entire site. The considerable height differences of the hillside location could not always be compensated for with this type of construction and result in long, cumbersome routes and restrictions on accessibility at the site. The building substance is largely outdated and dilapidated. The technical building equipment does not comply with current regulations in many areas and requires corresponding renewal. As part of the consequent general renovation, the hospital intends to demolish the existing ward building (approx. 1950) and the vacant cloister and to erect a replacement new building on the construction site that becomes free between the North area and Medicum. As a preparatory measure for the replacement new building of the acute care hospital, a building application for the construction of an outpatient surgery centre for interim use was submitted in advance. The interim building is located on the North area and enabled the relocation of the functional areas from the existing East wing, which, together with the existing buildings cloister, chapel and connecting corridors, was demolished as part of the site clearance first construction section. Since the ward building cannot be completely vacated together with the existing buildings East wing, cloister and chapel, the replacement new building will be erected in two construction sections as follows: After the demolition of the East wing, the cloister and the connecting corridors between the entrance hall and Medicum, the first construction section incl. new East wing will be laid out in this construction gap. With correspondingly dense, interim occupancy of the first building part, the existing ward building can be completely vacated and then also demolished. The demolition permit is already available. Then, with the second construction section, the planned construction site will be fully developed and the final, scheduled occupancy of the possibly building part-crossing functional areas can be completed. This project under consideration is the 2nd construction section (2.TBA). The total investment currently amounts to approximately 134 million EUR (LOT 200 - 700).
