At the Caritas Förderzentrum St. Laurentius und Paulus special school in Queichheimer Hauptstraße 235 in Landau i.d. Pfalz, two-thirds of the current 160 pupils are taught in the holistic development educational pathway, i.e., in addition to the focus on motor development, there is also a need for special educational support in the area of holistic development. The special school was built in 1971 as a solid structure with a flat roof. In 1990, a complete hipped roof was added. The attic space is unused. Since then, the (special) educational requirements for the school building and its facilities have changed significantly. As the school was originally planned for approximately 120 pupils, the current educational concepts could not be taken into account at the time of construction, and no major measures have been carried out in recent years, the school is no longer up to date. Therefore, comprehensive construction measures on the existing school building are planned. In recent years, only comprehensive fire protection measures and the renovation of the drinking water system of the entire facility have been carried out. The measures for this renovation are planned as follows: Fundamental renovation measures in classrooms, therapy rooms, offices and corridors Installation of a ventilation system including installation of air conditioning units Renewal of electrical wiring Sanitation of the swimming pool with changing rooms Sanitation of the auditorium and WC facilities Sanitation of the nursing baths, WC facilities Conversion of the teaching kitchen Creation of a barrier-free playground The parts of the building that are the subject of this measure include the following uses: Building P: - Basement (partial basement): swimming pool basin – swimming pool technology - Ground floor: swimming pool with associated changing rooms, classrooms, therapy and administration rooms, small sanitary areas - First floor: classrooms, therapy and administration rooms, large sanitary area for the pupils - Attic: installation of a technical control centre, cable routing of the new ventilation system Building R: - Ground floor: large kitchen (NOT subject of this measure) - First floor: canteen, dispensing kitchen, classrooms, therapy and administration rooms - Attic: unused – only cable routing of the new ventilation system Building O: - Ground floor: necessary corridor, access, administration rooms - First floor: necessary corridor, small sanitary areas, access, administration rooms - Attic: unused – only cable routing of the new ventilation system Building A: - Ground floor: gymnasium with associated ancillary rooms, classrooms, therapy and administration rooms, large sanitary area for the pupils, workshop, teaching kitchen - First floor: classrooms, therapy and administration rooms, large sanitary area for the pupils - Attic: installation of a technical control centre, cable routing of the new ventilation system Building B: - Ground floor: Outpatient service administration rooms (NOT subject of this measure), main entrance - First floor: classrooms, small sanitary area - Attic: unused – only cable routing of the new ventilation system Building C: - Ground floor: classrooms, therapy and administration rooms, small sanitary area, access - First floor 1: (NOT subject of this measure), access - First floor 2: (NOT subject of this measure), access - First floor 3: (NOT subject of this measure), access - First floor 4: classrooms and therapy rooms, small sanitary area, access - Attic: installation of a technical control centre Building L: - Ground floor: necessary corridor, access, ramp - First floor: necessary corridor, access, ramp - Attic: unused – only cable routing of the new ventilation system Building M: - Ground floor: necessary corridor, access, ramp - First floor: (NOT subject of this measure) - Attic: unused (NOT subject of this measure) Building F: - Ground floor: auditorium with stage, sanitary area - First floor: (NOT subject of this measure) - Attic: unused (NOT subject of this measure) The following building parts are NOT subject to the measure: Building D, Building E, Building U, Building G, Building N, Building K, Building H, Building S, Building T The renovation will be carried out in three construction phases. Phase 1: Building A, B, L Phase 2: Buildings P, R, O Phase 3: Building C, L, M, F and playgrounds The respective construction phases are planned to take place as follows: Phase 1: 06.10.2025 - 10.2026 Phase 2: 05.10.2026 - 10.2027 02.07.2026 - 08.2027 (P swimming hall) Phase 3: 04.10.2027 - 07.2028 Attic as a special section: The work for this construction phase will be carried out in parallel with the other construction phases in consultation with the construction management and AG.
