Description

Køge has been hit by some particularly powerful storm surges over time and has therefore been flooded several times. Due to the climate-related sea-level rise, the frequency of flooding in Køge is expected to increase in the future. The State has designated Køge Bugt as a risk area for flooding in accordance with the EU's Floods Directive. Køge Municipality has initiated a coastal protection project, Køge Dige, as a result. The purpose of Køge Dige is to protect Køge Municipality's coastal urban areas from flooding from the sea, and when completed, it will stretch over most of Køge Municipality's coastline from Skensved Å in the north, down to Køge Harbour and towards Vedskølle Å in the south. The coastal protection will consist of dikes, sea walls and flood gates, as well as pumps for handling water from the hinterland. Køge Dige is divided into three sub-areas: Sub-area 1: Københavnsvej. The northern part, which stretches from the municipal boundary to Solrød Municipality to the point along Værtsvej, north of Køge Marina, where the existing terrain itself becomes sufficiently high to provide protection. Here, the coastal protection is established as a dike east of Københavnsvej and outside the urban areas east of Københavnsvej, as well as a flood gate in Snogebækken. At Havstokken, a combination of sea wall and dike is established over a short stretch. Pump stations in this sub-area are procured separately and must be established in another enterprise - not included in the present procurement. Sub-area 2: Køge Marina and Køge Harbour. The central part of Køge Dige includes Køge Marina and Køge Harbour. In this part, the coastal protection consists of sea walls and terrain elevations on the northern part of the harbour, as well as a large flood gate in the public harbour (Slipset). The task of establishing the large flood gate in Køge Harbour, with the associated port canal and pump station, is procured in a separate procurement with the associated supply contract, and it is not part of the present enterprise - not included in the present procurement. At Søndre Harbour, it is only the coastal protection at Køge Roklub that is included as part of Køge Dige and the present procurement. Sub-area 3: Strandvejen. The southern area covers the stretch from Strandpromenaden at Kjøge Miniby to Vedskølle Å. Here, Strandvejen serves as the protection for most of the stretch. A dike is established around Hotel Comwell, and the forest road that runs through a forest area immediately north of Vedskølle Å is raised. The procured main enterprise contract includes flood/coastal protection in the three sub-areas by establishing approximately: • 5,000 meters of dikes • 1,900 meters of ditches along the backside of dikes • Incorporation of approx. 75,000 cubic meters of soil • 1,400 meters of flood walls/spunds with openings for culverts • 400 meters of terrain regulation • Flood gate in Snogebækken. The procured construction work is described in more detail in the procurement material.
