With this procurement notice, Itärata Oy is initiating the procurement procedure for the preparation of the Itärata general design. Itärata Oy is seeking candidates or candidate groups as designers for the Itärata general design. The preparation of the general design is divided into two parts: Part A: Lentorata - Porvoo Part B: Porvoo - Koria Parts A and B are tendered as a single procurement through a negotiated procedure, such that a candidate or candidate group may offer one or more parts. A common development phase for the different parts of the general design is planned, which would start approximately in August 2026. The design phase is scheduled to start approximately in January 2027. The general design task covers the entire project. The total length of the route alignment from Lentorata to Kouvola is approximately 118 kilometres. There are 110 kilometres of entirely new track section, of which approximately 34 kilometres are tunnel sections. There will be 53 bridges along the route alignment. Approximately 26 road junctions are planned. Approximately 40 kilometres of ground improvement and approximately 16 kilometres of noise abatement are estimated to be required.
