The magnet system for the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source (ECRIS) ensures the confinement of the plasma for the production of highly charged heavy ions. The final magnet system consists of three magnet coils (injection, middle, extraction) to form the axial mirror magnetic field and a hexapole magnet to generate the radial magnetic field. The specifications describe the required properties of the three magnet coils, as well as the associated low-carbon steel yoke, and the technical requirements.
