EcoWerf wishes to build a new transshipment site at the new quay on the Vaart in Leuven. The quay is being constructed by De Vlaamse Waterweg. The plot for the construction of the transshipment site is 8,327 m². The following functionalities are required on the site:

- Transshipment shed

- Techniques to press waste into the necessary containers for water transport

- Weighbridges

- Limited office space, canteen and sanitary facilities for the transshipment shed workers

- Technical space

- Industrial hall for use by third parties

- Parking spaces

- Green buffer

- Water management (infiltration capacity)

The site must be designed so that the logistic flows run optimally, taking into account the flood sensitivity of the terrain and the bundle of utilities lying on the terrain. The proposed schedule for the project is as follows:

- Appointment of design team: June 2026

- Preliminary design: August 2026 - December 2026

- Request for advice: January 2027

- Preparation of permit application: February - March 2027

- Permit procedure: April - August 2027

- Tender dossier: May - November 2027

- Construction: March 2027 - August 2029

The estimated project budget for the construction of the site is 6,000,000 euro (excl. VAT).
