Description

Renovation and Expansion of Züttlingen Primary School Based on Feasibility Study, Plans, Floor Plans and Details Office Huber, Billigheim

1. Initial Situation and Objectives

The primary school in the Möckmühl district of Züttlingen is located in an existing building at Jahnstraße 5, directly adjacent to the town hall and the church. The building has functional, spatial and energy deficiencies that make comprehensive modernisation necessary. The aim of the project is to renovate the existing building and to expand it structurally in order to meet today's pedagogical, functional and energy requirements. A holistic approach is to be pursued, which combines renovation, expansion and energy upgrading in one project.

2. Project Scope

Based on a feasibility study, the following scope has been determined:

2.1 Renovation of the Existing Building

The existing primary school will be comprehensively modernised:

- Energy renovation (insulation, windows, building services)

- Barrier-free access (except to the attic)

- Optimisation of the room structure

- Modernisation of the sanitary facilities

- Adaptation to fire protection measures

2.2 Extension and Supplementary Building (New Construction)

Based on the feasibility study, the extension will take place in several building sections and storeys, creating new or enlarged areas:

Ground Floor (GF)

- Extension of Classroom 1 (A = 70 m²)

- Extension of Classroom 2 (A = 73 m²)

- Covered playground (A = 74 m²)

- New teacher's room (A = 49.86 m²)

- Material storage, tea kitchen, new WC facilities

- Corridor and cloakroom areas

Upper Floor (UF)

- Extension of Classroom 3 (A = 84 m²)

- Extension of Classroom 4 (A = 73 m²)

- New differentiation room (A = 45 m²)

- School library (A = 27 m²)

- New staircase and optimised traffic areas

Attic (A)

- Creation of a new presentation and lounge area (A = 72 m²)

- Gallery (A = 13.5 m²)

- Adaptation of the roof structure incl. new dormer

Basement (B)

- New multi-functional room (A = 72.78 m²)

- Canteen serving and preparation area

- Staff room, technical rooms, cellar areas

- Large terrace (A = 83 m²)

3. Functional and Pedagogical Improvements

With the renovation and expansion of the school building, a modern learning environment will be created with:

- larger, flexible classrooms

- additional differentiation and group rooms

- a school library

- a multi-functional room for events

- improved teacher work areas

- optimised break areas (indoor and outdoor)

Through the investment, the school location in the district of Züttlingen will be made future-proof, sustainable and pedagogically upgraded.

4. Cost-Effectiveness and Funding

The planning deliberately focuses on building in the existing structure to reduce costs and utilise funding opportunities. As part of the feasibility study, a cost estimate was carried out:

The cost estimate according to DIN 276 results in:

Gross construction costs: 3,800,000 €

Total costs excluding land, external facilities, equipment: approx. 3.8 million €

5. Interim Solution During Construction

For the construction phase, the relocation of the school operations is necessary. A temporary solution with containers is planned.

6. Conclusion

The project "Renovation and Expansion of Züttlingen Primary School" represents a comprehensive modernisation that creates a clear added value both pedagogically and structurally. The combination of renovation and expansion enables a sustainable, economically viable and fundable solution that strengthens the school in the long term and keeps the location of Züttlingen attractive.
