To improve the flood situation at the Genfbach (watercourse reference number: 28222), a flood retention basin (HRB) is to be constructed at the main closure. In addition, a possible throttling of the Borbach, which flows into the planned HRB, is to be implemented. The locality of Nettersheim was significantly affected by the flood disaster in July 2021. Numerous buildings and public infrastructure were particularly severely damaged. To better protect the population along the Genfbach from future flood events, the municipality plans to build a flood retention basin upstream of the locality, between Nettersheim and Engelgau. The aim is to throttle the water discharges during extreme weather events and to ensure a controlled discharge of the watercourse Genfbach during extreme weather events. The following Natura 2000 site (FFH site) is located within the area: DE-5505-305 Lower Genfbach Valley. To take over the necessary services, the municipality of Nettersheim is looking for a suitable general planner.
